Cosmic Lotus might seem an unlikely name for a website
that isn't about cosmology or lotus flowers. What's the connection?
As explained in my article The Spiritual Meaning of the Lotus,
the lotus has not only practical and aesthetic value, but symbolic importance among
various cultures.
The lotus represents things like nourishment, harmony, spiritual development and
transformation. It also signifies universal unfoldment, hence the cosmic theme.
As for the subtitle A Metaphysical & Holistic Healing
Cyberministry, the connection between holistic healing and the metaphysical becomes
apparent in the Ministry Overview.
Ministry Overview
CosmicLotus.org emphasizes striving for self-mastery and spiritual
realization. Both processes imply taking responsibility for our experiences, becoming more heart- and
spirit-centered and courting a metaphysical worldview that grows ever larger and more inclusive.
They also mean cultivating spiritual virtues,
approaching health and healing holistically, and seeking a spiritual understanding of the
cosmic laws of life from Life Itself.
Right relationship and right livelihood are also important, as are
grasping the body-mind-spirit connection, holding ourselves to high standards, communing with nature,
walking in balance and living green.
Beyond these fundamentals, there are many paths leading to the Divine
Source: prayer, meditation, mysticism, devotion to God/Goddess, selfless service, spiritual studies,
intuitive development, etc.
Whichever spiritual path you follow, CosmicLotus.org seeks to support
you with unique meditation guidance and useful metaphysical, spiritual and holistic healing content.
What is Meditation?
Meditation is a tool for spiritual development. It involves focusing the
mind and/or other interior energies to evoke a specific state of consciousness, toward some
spiritual goal. There are many kinds of meditation, each worthwhile in its own right.
Why meditate? At the very least, meditation helps us to relax,
get centered and feel peaceful. And it allows us to refresh, refocus and reenergize.
Meditation has health benefits too, like lowering blood pressure. Meditation is
also a superb stress buster. And as science continues to prove that stress is a major aggravator, and
often the cause of diseases, more and more physicians recommend meditation to their patients.
Stress is also the number one "major ager," so persons seeking
to reduce stress as part of an anti-aging program are also turning to meditation.
Despite its health and anti-aging benefits, meditation remains primarily
a powerful tool for spiritual development. Meditation reveals the true nature of
reality and facilitates communion with a Higher Power.
The Mental Yentl Database
Several years in the making, the Mental Yentl Database contains information
on more than 100 types of meditation. (Read about some of them in the Meditation Articles section.)
Included are traditional meditation methods, those developed over the
last two centuries and contemporary meditation techniques.
Also included in the database are some unique, cross-cultural
groupings of meditation exercises, Eastern meditation forms that are available but not widely
known in the West, and some new meditation techniques given me through spirit that are not available
elsewhere.
With interest in meditation rising and new resources becoming available
almost daily, the Mental Yentl Database undergoes constant expansion.
