Margaret A. Dell
Much of the information on this line was furnished by my
cousins Lois Jacobs Woods (deceased), Richard Dell (deceased), Norma, Katie

According to family legend, Phillip Dell, a native of Germany, came
to the U.S. as a young man and settled near Philadelphia. He operated a stage coach route from
Philadelphia to Pittsburgh for many years. Later, he moved to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania,
continuing the coach line while also engaging in the buying and selling of livestock. A member of
the Lutheran Church, he married Elizabeth Wisler (Wissler?).

Ruthann, who provided the photo
at left, writes: "I'm pretty sure this is John J. Dell (Jack) born in 1871. This isn't 100% sure,
but he was very
close to our Horner family and they lived in Duquesne. The reason I think it is him: Jack
was a close friend of my grandfather, Robert Wilson Horner, and he was born in 1872. The
time frame is right. However, I don't have John J.'s info on how he made it to Duquesne. I
do have Jack's name on his photo in my dad's handwriting. That's 100% sure."
